Professor Xiaodan li’s Biography

Xiaodan li, Professor, Ph.D. advisor, was the former Chair of the Department of Architecture, and currently serves as the Secretary of the Party branch of the Department of Architecture of the Communist Party of China at China University of Mining and Technology. She is the recipient of the Education Ministry's New Century Excellent Talents Award and one of the first batch of Double Leading faculty-Party branch secretaries’ workshop leaders of universities in China. She received the Beijing March 8th Red Banner Medal in 2018. She is the academic leader of the Architecture discipline and major leader within the college, as well as the leader of the university's aesthetic education teaching team. She also serves as Vice Chairman of the Mine Subsidence Damage and Ecological Restoration Committee of the Chinese Rock Mechanics and Engineering Society.

She has been conducting interdisciplinary research for years, specializing in subsidence areas caused by coal mining. She developed unique planning methods that significantly reduced land remediation costs and established a preliminary theoretical research framework for mine area renovation planning. She led and completed two National Natural Science Foundation projects and more than 40 architectural design, interior design, and planning and design projects. She also participated in six Olympic architectural design bid management and technical review projects in Beijing. She published over 50 academic papers in SCI, EI, CSSCI, and other core journals, as well as three textbooks, and has four patents.

II. Research Areas

Professor Li focuses on teaching and conducting research in the fields of sustainable development of mining cities, Chinese and Western architectural cultural exchange, urban ecological environment, and green building.

3. Awards

Professor Li’s monograph entitled "Study on the Convergence of Chinese and Western Architectural Cultures - A Case Study of Church Buildings in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region" was selected as a national key book publishing project of the nation’s 13th Five-Year Plan. Her textbook entitled "Illustrated Introduction to Interior Design and Methods" was awarded as an excellent teaching material in Beijing in 2018. The course Interior Design and Appreciation, which she taught, was awarded a Distinguished Course award of elective courses in Beijing in 2014.
