Following an extensive search, actor Burgess Jenkins (The Reaping, Remember the Titans) has been cast in the critical starring role of John Wesley. In additions to numerous feature films, Jenkins has appeared in the television series JAG and Dawson's Creek. "Burgess is perfect for the role of John Wesley," said producer John Jackman. "He'll bring a depth of life and reality to the role that we really need."
Casting Director Catrine McGregor, CSA, says that Jenkins is the ideal choice for the part. "He gets utterly absorbed in a part, he lives the character. He's able to convey a genuine spark onscreen that many actors couldn't pull off."
Jenkins is married to actress Ashlee Payne (The Code Conspiracy,Surface, Sheena). In addition to his acting schedule, Burgess is an instructor of the Meisner Method in which he is trained. He studied for 4 years at the acclaimed Playhouse West in Los Angeles, CA, under the instruction of Robert Carnegie and actor Jeff Goldblum.
"John Wesley was a compelling figure in life, and we had to find an actor who could convey his powerful presence," said Jackman. "We also have a fantastic script that is very demanding on the lead characters, who at moments have the secret side of their souls exposed. Burgess can meet the demands of both the character and the script, and connect powerfully with the audience."
